John was born and raised in Cottonwood County and has lived in the Mt. Lake area all of his life.  He has been a County Commissioner since 1993.  He currently serves as the Commissioner for District 5, which includes the City of Mt. Lake and Midway Township.  For 17 years, John served as a Supervisor for Midway Township.  John is married to Evie and together they have 2 sons and 1 daughter as well as 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. 

John serves on the following committees: Brown-Nicollet-Cottonwood Joint Powers Board; Cottonwood County DAC Board; Cottonwood Family Services Collaborative Board; Greater Blue Earth River Basin Alliance; Land Use Advisory Committee; Planning Commission; Private Industry Council Board; RC & D Steering Committee; SW Mental Health Consortium; SW MN Energy Task Force; and SW MN Regional Solid Waste Commission.
