The highway department
is responsible for providing safe roads for the citizens of
Cottonwood County.
The department has
four sections:
Engineering/Construction
The engineering
section has a staff of three individuals and is responsible for
engineering design and construction inspection of highway and
bridge projects. For information regarding current projects,
please call 831-1389.
Maintenance
The maintenance
section consists of thirteen individuals and provides routine
maintenance services to the highways and bridges of the county.
These maintenance operations are divided into five maintenance
areas which contain a total of five garages.
Equipment
The equipment
section has three individuals, including the shop foreman, and is
responsible for the department’s equipment.
Administration
The
administration section is comprised of two persons, including the
county engineer and the accountant.
Department Buildings

The highway
department maintains approximately 415 miles of roads in
Cottonwood County. The road system consists of 319 miles of
County State Aid Highways and 96 miles of county roads.
The department is
based out of Windom and also has four shops in other areas.

Westbrook
The
shop in Westbrook has three maintenance workers and assists in
serving the northwest part of the county.

Storden
The shop in Storden has two maintenance workers.

Jeffers
The Jeffers area is served by two maintenance workers.

Mountain Lake
In
Mountain Lake there are two maintenance workers. |
