The Cottonwood County Recorder is able to issue certified copies of birth certificates for births occurring anywhere in Minnesota from 1935 to the present. For births occurring before 1935, contact us for assistance in locating the birth certificate.

To apply in person:
Customers should come to the Recorder’s office with a picture ID. When you complete the application to prove a tangible interest you will receive your birth certificate immediately.

To apply by mail:
Download the application and complete it. Sign it in front of a notary and return to us with a check for $26.00. We will process your request the same day we receive it.
